Day
01 : Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and our representative and our car transfer you to the
hotel for your overnight stay.
Day
02 : Delhi
After breakfast in the morning, enjoy a full day city tour of Old and New
Delhi. Visit the Red Fort comprising exquisite palaces reflecting Mughal
architecture, the largest mosque in India, the Jama Masjid the colorful and
bustling Chandni Chowk bazaar and Rajghat, a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi.
Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 : Delhi - Agra
Early morning, transfer to the railway station to board the train for Agra.
Breakfast on the train. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Begin a full day
of sightseeing with a visit to the Taj Mahal, a 'wonder of the world' built
by Emperor Shah Jehan as a shrine for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This monument
is considered to be the ultimate symbol of love with its majestic marble
domes and elegant minarets. The next stop is the Agra Fort, built by Emperor
Akbar in 1565. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 04 : Agra - Varanasi
After breakfast in the morning transfer to the airport to Varanasi by
flight, it departs at 1320 hrs and arrives at 1530 hrs. Upon arrival, check
into the hotel. In the afternoon, begin a tour with a visit to Sarnath. Also
visit the 110 ft tall Damekh Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar, the ruins of an
ancient temple, the Museum and monasteries in the area. Stay overnight at
the hotel.
Day 05 : Varanasi
Early in the morning, enjoy a boat ride on the River Ganges and watch a
spectacle of devout pilgrims and holy men along with curious onlookers at
the banks. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Enjoy the day at leisure. Stay
overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 : Varanasi - Bodhgaya (242 kms/ 145 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Bodhgaya. Buddhists hail Bodhgaya
because it is here that Buddha gained enlightenment. Upon arrival, check
into the hotel. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day
07 : Bodhgaya
After breakfast in the morning, stop at the Bodhi Tree, a descendant of the
original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Near the tree lies
a sandstone slab, marking the exact spot where he meditated. Proceed to the
Mahabodhi Temple, crowned by a 50 mt pyramidal spiral and housing a large
ornate Buddha statue. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 08 : Bodhgaya - Patna (198 kms/ 119 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Patna. En route, stop at Rajgir
and Nalanda, two ancient Buddhist sites. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 09 : Patna - Kushinagar (253 kms/ 152 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Kushinagar. En route, stop at
Vaishali, which marks the spot where Buddha gave his last sermon. Upon
arrival, check into the hotel. Here, visit Buddha's cremation site that
contains his remains in a brick Stupa. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 : Kushinagar - Lumbini (161 kms/ 96 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Lumbini, regarded as the
birthplace of Buddha. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Here, visit the
Maya Devi Temple constructed at the site of many ancient temples. Stay
overnight at the hotel.
Day 11 : Lumbini - Balrampur (197 kms/ 118 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Balrampur. Upon arrival, check in
at the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 : Balrampur - Lucknow (208 kms/ 125 miles)
After breakfast in the morning, drive to Lucknow. Upon arrival, check into
the hotel. Tour the 19th century Jumma Masjid, the Bara Imambara built in
1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula and the golden-domed Chota Imambara with its
elaborate calligraphy, beautiful chandeliers and the Nawab's silver throne.
Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 : Lucknow - Delhi
After breakfast in the morning, transfer to the railway station to board
the train for Delhi. Upon arrival, check into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 14 : Depart Delhi
Transfer to the International airport for your onward journey or your
flight back home.
