Ajmer has always been a strategic place which has been coveted by many rulers as the place provides access to Gujarat and Malwa. This place was the center of Chauhan power. Ajmer is a great pilgrimage center for both Hindus and Muslims . The dargaha Sharif of the sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti popularly known as Gharib-Nawaz is visited by pilgrims from all faiths. During the Urs this town is decorated like a bride and is visited by the pilgrims from all over the world. From Ajmer one can take an excursion to Pushkar. the ancient Taragarh fort is another attraction of this place.
Ranakpur is famous for the Adinath temples. These temple were build during the 15th century and are spread over a sprawling area of 45,00 sq yards. These temples are among the largest jain temples in India. The exteriors of these temples are simle but the interiors are profously and intricately decorated with carvings on marble which resembles lace work rather than stone carvings. Nearly 1,500 pillars show interesting patterns of shadow and light displaying a different decorative designs. The shifting sun rays reflect different colours on the pillars from gold to pale blue.

Centuries ago this small village in Madhya Pradesh woke to the sounds of chissels on stone. It is almost 1000 years when the beautiful temples of Khajuraho were carved out. There were 85 of them but today only 22 remain. Time has not spared these temples and most of then are badly damaged. After archealogical department restored them, these priceless monuments have come up as one of the major tourist destination in the country. The depiction of Kamasutra on the walls of these temples is one of the major point of attraction for tourists.
This medieval city was build by Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century. The pristine perfection of temples and forts has attracted tourists since many years. Orchha is located along Betwa River. But Orchha reached its zenith of glory during rule of Bundela ruler Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo. Orchha is particularly famous for the graceful chattries, which crowns Jehangir palace. It lives in its shrines and memorials. Each memorial and shrine has history of its own, each of them has a story to tell. The temples, shrines and memorials have their unique contribution to the beauty of Orchha. Orchha was an important center during the freedom struggle. Particularly the revolutionaries used this place as their base. In the 1926-27, Chandra Shekhar Azad operated from Orchha. To commemorate the freedom fighters the Shahid Smarak was constructed.
