The Royal Orient

The Royal Orient is similar to the Palace on Wheels. It affords a journey back in time to experience the magnificent bygone years. Enjoy the lifestyles of the erstwhile royalty, while visiting some of the Indian cities of historical significance. Absorb the beauty and splendor of ancient forts, palaces, monuments and shrines. The train operates weekly, from September through April. All meals are included while aboard the train.

DAY 1 - DELHI
Arrive in Delhi. You will be received at the airport and brought to hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the city, visiting Presidential Palace, Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandini Chowk.

DAY 2 - DELHI
Spend the morning at leisure. In the noon, transfer to the Royal Orient, the former Palace on Wheels, which is now operating on a new route.

DAY 3 - CHITTAURGARH / UDAIPUR
Tour the cities of Chittaurgarh and Udaipur. Visit the massive and awesome Chittaurgarh Fort, which is atop a hill. Aslo visit the Tower of Fame (Kirti Stambh) and the Tower of Victory (Vijay Stambh). Udaipur, well known as the City of Lakes, offers many places worth visiting such as City Palace and Lake Pichola.

DAY 4 - JUNAGARH
Arrival in Junagarh. This place is very rarely visited but is rich in temples and other structures. Visit 3rd Century rock edifices and Somnath Temples.

DAY 5 - SASAN GIR
Explore the Sasan gir Lion Sanctuary - the exclusive Asiatic Lion Reserve- spread over 1400 sq km. The sanctuary is also a home to panthers, striped hyenas, spotted deer, peacocks and other exotic birds. Also visit St. Paul's Church at Diu and the beaches of Mandavi.

DAY 6 - PALITANA

Palitana is known all over the world for the 863 splendid Jain temples atop Shatrunjaya Hills. These temples, of breathtaking beauty, were built in the 11th Century. After visiting the temples proceed to Ahmedabad by coach.

DAY 7 - AHMEDABAD
Ahmedabad is the capital of the state of Gujrat. It was here that Mahatma Gandhi founded his Sabarmati ashram. Visit Gandhi Museum, Sidi Mosque, Adalaj step-well and textile museum.

DAY 8 - JAIPUR
Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur is popularly known as the Pink City. Tour the city and visit City Palace, Palace of Winds, Observatory, Rambagh Palace and Amber Fort on elephant back. Check-in at a hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 9 - AGRA
Depart for Agra in the morning by car/coach. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri. In Agra you will visit the eternal symbol of love - the Taj Mahal. Also explore the Agra Fort and Itamad ud Daula. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 10 - DELHI
Spend the morning relaxing and engaging in independent activities. Leave for Delhi by car. At Delhi, depart for your onward journey.
